Zero seclusion: Safety and dignity for all – change package | Aukatia te noho punanga: Noho haumanu, tū rangatira mō te...
This Zero seclusion change package | mōkī aroha is both a coaching tool and resource for zero seclusion project teams as they plan, design, test and apply evidence-informed practices in their local environments.
It uses a set of globally recognised, evidence-based interventions aimed at improving the care of tāngata whaiora across the entire mental health sector while moving towards achieving zero seclusion in mental health inpatient units. These include: a driver diagram that illustrates the main drivers in the system; change ideas involving clinical and cultural evidence-informed interventions and practices; measures involving lists for recording progress; and a learning system involving tools to test plan–do–study–act (PDSA) cycles, report progress and create plans to hold gains.
The change package also includes:
- a clinical bundle (clinical change ideas)
- a cultural kete (mātauranga Māori approaches and interventions)
- a consumer kit (change ideas and strategies including insights from those with lived experiences).
The change package gives zero seclusion project teams wider access to effective holistic Māori cultural and Western clinical interventions, which in turn will reduce seclusion rates and improve health equity.
