Restorative practice is an approach practised in health care settings internationally.
In this presentation, Joe Rafferty, Chief Executive of Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust, and Amanda Oates, Executive Director of Workforce, outline how they built a restorative just culture in Mersey Care in response to things that went wrong in their practice, and share key learnings for others wanting to do the same in their organisations.
Mersey Care provides physical and mental health services to more than 11 million people in the northwest of England.
Restorative practice is a key focus for the Health Quality & Safety Commission, as it links closely with healing and learning after a harmful or adverse health care event, along with the concept of hohou te rongo (peace-making from a te ao Māori view).
