Kia āta kōwhiri Choosing Wisely

The Choosing Wisely campaign seeks to reduce harm from unnecessary and low-value tests and treatment.

It is essential that data and intelligence are integrated with our quality improvement activities. To support this, the Commission established an integrated advisory group to support our programme activities in primary and community settings.

The integrated advisory group replaces the variations and primary care expert advisory groups. It provides guidance, considers intelligence (including the Atlas of Healthcare Variation), improvement, innovation and integration recognising national and local priorities. It provides sector-wide leadership, strategic insight and expert advice to the Commission to inform our primary and community care work and variation projects.

Dr Nick Chamberlain, chief executive, Northland District Health Board (DHB) chairs the group.

Working groups

We may convene smaller working groups as required for specific projects. These groups will have a strong equity focus as well as consumer co-design input from the outset. For example, these may include specialist/expert input on a particular topic as part of the Atlas of Healthcare Variation programme and/or topics of focus for quality improvement initiatives.
